Drum Washer/Crusher

The Drum Washer/Crusher (DWC-Series) by SRSDE represents a significant advancement in the handling and processing of drums. This integrated unit offers a seamless solution that combines the functionalities of drum washing and crushing into one compact and efficient system.

The DWC-Series is designed to address the needs of various industries that require thorough cleaning of drums prior to their disposal, thereby ensuring compliance with environmental standards and enhancing operational efficiency.

Comprehensive System Design

The DWC-Series is a testament to SRSDE’s commitment to innovation and efficiency in industrial applications.

The unit’s ability to perform both washing and crushing tasks in one cycle eliminates the need for separate equipment, saving both space and resources. This dual functionality makes the DWC-Series a cost-effective and time-saving solution for facilities dealing with large quantities of drums.

Customization for Diverse Applications

Understanding that different industries have unique requirements, the DWC-Series is customizable to cater to various needs. It can be developed for aqueous, caustic, and solvent applications, thus providing flexibility for a range of processing environments.

The unit also meets specific EPA handling and disposal requirements, such as the triple-rinse mandate, ensuring that businesses comply with environmental regulations.

  1. Drum Compatibility: Designed to efficiently process both open and bung top 30 and 55-gallon drums, the DWC-Series offers versatility in handling different drum types. An optional exterior wash feature enhances its functionality.
  2. Wash Applications: The unit is equipped to handle water, caustic, or solvent wash applications, making it adaptable to various cleaning requirements.
  3. Durable Construction: The DWC-Series boasts a heavy-duty unibody welded construction, ensuring longevity and resilience in demanding industrial settings. Internal piping is made of galvanized steel, with stainless steel as an alternative option.
  4. Advanced Washing Features: High-pressure washes, adjustable up to 12 GPM and 250 P.S.I, ensure the thorough cleaning of drum interiors. Electric wash and optional rinse pumps, along with a moving wash assembly, contribute to its comprehensive cleaning capabilities.
  5. Compaction Power: The system exerts a formidable 90,000 Lbs RAM force, maximizing storage capabilities by efficiently compacting the drums post-washing.
  6. Control and Safety: Managed by a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) within a NEMA 4X enclosure, the DWC-Series offers secure and precise operations. The operator terminal includes a color touch screen for adjustable controls, enhanced with password protection for restricted access.
  7. Conveyorized Unit: An optional conveyorized unit facilitates an inline automatic feed drum washing/crushing system, improving operational efficiency and reducing manual labor. This system includes advanced features like a compaction chamber staging system and an automatic drum ejection system.
  8. Explosion Resistant or ATEX Package: For applications in hazardous environments, the DWC-Series can be equipped with explosion-resistant features including motors, controls, and an air-purged control panel. This package ensures safety in potentially explosive atmospheres.

Operational Process

The DWC-Series streamlines the drum processing operation in several steps:

  1. Drum Placement: Drums are placed on the conveyor with the bung hole down, allowing liquids to drip into a drip tray and flow into the sump.
  2. Automatic Handling: Drums are automatically moved and positioned for washing and crushing, reducing the need for manual intervention.
  3. Efficient Washing: A high-pressure spray from rotating wash heads performs the cleaning operation, with the dirty wash water being recirculated to the sump and an external tank.
  4. Compaction: Post-wash, the drums are moved to the crushing area, where they are compacted with a 60,000-pound compactor, reducing the drums to a fraction of their original size.
  5. Disposal: The crushed drums are then deposited into a bin or onto another conveyor for disposal.

The DWC-Series from SRSDE is more than just a drum washer and crusher; it’s a comprehensive solution designed for efficiency, safety, and compliance. Its customizable features, robust construction, and advanced control systems make it a valuable asset for industries seeking to optimize their drum processing operations.

With its ability to adapt to various applications and environmental standards, the DWC-Series stands out as a versatile and reliable choice for modern industrial needs.
